In Your Expert Opinion...
Each year Expert Opinion Services provides more than 1200 expert opinions for the legal profession, with requests ranging from the everyday to the extraordinary. Whilst most of these projects are client initiated, we welcome the opportunity to assist consultants on projects they have initiated, or where the client has approached them directly.
Consulting with EOS
We have a team of highly trained Project Managers, Account Executives and Project Administrators
who are dedicated to delivering professional customer service.
They are experts in their own right, managing hundreds of expert opinion and technical consulting requests each year.
We also undertake marketing activities designed to specifically showcase your expertise. These include bulletins to over 2,000 law firms and insurance companies, advertisements in professional journals and directories, and direct mail bulletins to councils and industry groups.
We will also support you by providing advice on legal contracts and intellectual property issues, preparing fee proposals and tender documents, organising client meetings and travel arrangements and preparing presentations, reports and invoices. Our team therefore handles all the administration, leaving you to focus on providing your expert opinion.
Managing each project
Our administrative team have developed unique operational procedures that facilitate the smooth running of each project.
With any new project you will receive a brief and a Consultant Quote Form, along with our Terms and Conditions. Experts are required to complete and fax the Consultant Quote to 02 9385 6555 within three days. You are free to contact the client to discuss the scope of the project and clarify key issues before returning your quote, alternatively contact us to obtain the information on your behalf.
The information on this form is the basis of the Client Quote that is forwarded by EOS. We request that consultants do not discuss fees with the Client at any time. Should the Client wish to do so, please refer them to the relevant Account Executive at EOS. It is also imperative that consultants do not begin work on a project until instructed by EOS to do so. Once we receive the client's authorisation (a signed copy of the Client Quote) you will be notified, usually by fax or email, to proceed. Without a signed quote, we cannot guarantee payment within the normal 30-day period.
During the progress of the project, EOS may issue a follow-up fax requesting an update on the status of the project. Please provide your update by phone, email or return fax as soon as possible. If any further work is requested by the Client, over and above the amount contained in your original Consultant Quote, EOS will issue you with a new Consultant Quote form for your completion.
Your final report should be sent to EOS electronically, or on disk, addressed to the appropriate Account Executive. The report will be formatted into the EOS template, bound and forwarded to the Client. Please submit a tax invoice along with your report. Provided a signed quote was received by the Client, EOS will pay you within 30 days of receipt of your tax invoice for work that falls within the scope of the quote.
Please contact the relevant Account Executive at any time if you have any queries or concerns about a project.

We value feedback, and the following testimonials reflect the standard of our working relationship between EOS and our consultants.
"From the point of view of the expert, EOS offers invaluable support. All consultants receive ongoing, high quality training and development as expert witnesses, and they are kept abreast of relevant changes and developments. Many lawyers have told me how much they appreciate the way in which EOS formats and presents reports and delivers them on time! Professional advice regarding how to improve consultant's services to clients is given in a supportive way. The regular networking and benchmarking between consultants serves to maintain high standards of service provision."

EOS is committed to providing experts with appropriate qualifications and experience, and encourages consultants to take part in courses designed to extend their understanding of the role of the expert in litigation. The staff are easy to work with and very focussed on giving excellent service to clients and consultants. Very fast response times can be achieved in urgent matters."

Registration Requirements
We pride ourselves on the quality of our experts. In order to qualify as a potential expert witness, appropriate qualifications and experience are required, as well as peer review through reference checks. Once you’ve registered online, you will be asked to provide the names of past clients and/or colleagues who can verify your qualifications, experience and expertise.
To register as an expert, fill in the registration form. Please note there are sections on this form requiring keywords - these are the means by which we search for and identify consultants within our database. Please ensure your keywords closely reflect your specific expertise.
We prefer to pay consultants via electronic funds transfer (EFT) as this is faster than remitting fees by cheque. If you would like to receive your fees by EFT, please complete the payment form and return by fax along with your registration form.
